Description
Paralimni is a town within the Famagusta District of Cyprus, situated slightly inland from the island's east coast and took its name from the seasonal lake that lies on its west.

The film begins with a general view of a rocky bay in Paralimni. In the next shot, the filmmaker mentions that at some distance we can see a part of the -under Turkish occupation- Famagusta and a deserted, empty hotel there.

In the next shots, we see sandy organized beaches where tourists walk, swim, sunbathe.

Afterwards, we see views from an arch, seemingly of a medieval castle or wall, swimmers and tourists, small boats moored near the shore, blooming flower beds, some kids who explore the boats and again the beach and people who enjoy their vacation and the landscape.

At the end of the film, we see views from the ruined medieval walls and a view on a city street.

Creator's description

We’ve crossed over to the eastern side of the island now, and we’re at Paralimni. From the hotel roof we can see Famagusta in the distance, now under Turkish occupation –its streets deserted and hotels empty.

Looking the other way, at our feet is a little bay and beach. This is what the tourists come for, and there they are, sitting and lying like so many sea turtles.

It is certainly true to say that the human species doesn’t lack variety. Here we have tall and short, fat, thin, hairy, smooth-skinned, and every shade of colour, from white to pink to brown.
