Description
The Holy Monastery of Kykkou lies at an altitude of 1318 meters on the north-west face of Troödos Mountains, an area which administratively is a part of the Nicosia and Limassol provinces. It is in the middle of rich vegetation of shrubs and trees and is a monastery complex consisting of many assorted architectural styles.

The film begins with general, panoramic views of the monastery between trees, continues with a closer look at the roofs of the complex and finally we see the bell tower of its church.

Afterward views on the road where we see a bus of that time.

The next views were taken from the village of Prodromos. It is the last village before we reached the monastery and the highest village in Cyprus, from where we have a unique view of the lowland, in a verdant environment of blooming trees.

Creator's description

Kikkou Monastery, the most famous in Cyprus. It houses one of the three icons said to have been painted by St. Luke, and although the monastery has been destroyed by fire on several occasions the icon has always survived.

From the village of Prodromos there is a splendid view over the valley, filled with fruit and nut trees in blossom. What a pity it is a bit dull this evening.
