Skiadaresis, Makis
Makis (Gerasimos) Skiadaresis (1933-2015) was born in Athens and is the son of the musicologist and author Spyros Skiadaresis.
His father had a passion for photography and had won second prize in the magazine"La Revue de Photographie" in 1936.
Thus, from a very early age, Makis was initiated into photography.
Initially, he was involved in advertising photography, actors' portraits and the creations of Giannis Vouros.
Later, he focused exclusively on the photography of artworks and archaeological artifacts.
He was invited to create a special photography department at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH), as well as in Geneva, but he declined.
Among his most well-known works are "The Treasures of Mount Athos", the "History of Greek Art" by Ekdotike (Publishing) Athenon, "Vergina", etc.
